Plan to attend our Year of Mercy Mission!
October 23, 2016

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,
Plan now to attend our Year of Mercy Mission! We welcome Fr. Thaddeus Lancton, MIC! Please see the schedule in this bulletin.
Our Faith Formation programs are up and running. I am very grateful to all our volunteers, especially those who doing so much behind the scenes! God reward you!
I encourage all of us to increase our devotion to the Virgin Mary during this month of October. The Holy Rosary is one of the best ways to grow in love for Jesus through Mary. It is also one of the best family devotions. I encourage all our families to take time each day to pray all or at least part of the Holy Rosary together each day.
October is Respect Life Month. All parishioners are invited to take part in the 40 Days for Life event we are sponsoring this Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 3pm at the Rochester Planned Parenthood. More information can be found in this bulletin.
This week I continue with the instruction from St. Peter Julian Ey-mard from his book: How to Get More Out of Holy Communion. The goal of this series is to help every Catholic to be continually renewed in the love of Jesus truly present in the Holy Eucharist each time the soul receives Him in this Sacrament of His Love.
One of the teachings from St. Peter regarding frequently is very encouraging. St. Peter teaches us that in Holy Communion Jesus gives Himself to each of us in particular. He writes, “To possess Jesus and be possessed by Him: that is love in its highest manifestation; that is the life of union between the soul and Jesus, which is nourished reciprocally by the gift of each one to the other. The Be-loved in the Blessed Sacrament belongs wholly to me by the entire, perfect, personal, and perpetual gift of Himself. I must belong to Him in the same manner… What a gift! ‘He gives all who keeps nothing for Himself.’ Is not this the Eucharistic gift? Whence could the thought have come to our Lord to give Himself thus but from His Heart, burning with a boundless love for man? O Heart of Jesus, infinitely generous Heart, be Thou praised and blessed for-ever! Jesus, who loves each one of us in particular, gives Himself to each one. Love that is general little moves us. But we cannot resist a love that is shown to us personally. That God loved the world is beautiful; but that He loves me, myself, tells me so, and, to convince me, gives Himself to me – that is the triumph of His love. I am the object of this mystery of infinite power and love that is being enacted on the holy altar, for it aims at me and is perfected in me. O love, what shall I give in return? That I, poor creature that I am, should occupy thus the thought of Jesus Christ! That I should be the goal of His love! Oh, live and reign in me, my God! I desire not that Thou should have loved me in vain!”
My brothers and sisters, I encourage you to take time for Jesus every week for Holy Mass Saturday evening or Sun-day. Take time to pray, to receive Jesus, to be with Him. He loves each of us, personally and individually. He knows each of us and desires the love of our hearts! Take time for Him and you find that blessings will be beyond what you could possibly imagine!
Through the loving Heart of Jesus, truly present in the Holy Eucha-rist, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Joseph, St Michael and St. Paul may God bless you, your families and our parishes!
In Christ through Mary, Fr. Kasel
