Plenary Indulgence for Souls in Purgatory

Dear Parishioners, According to the Enchiridion of Indulgences of the Catholic Church a Plenary Indulgence is available each day from November 1-8 for Catholics who devoutly visit and pray for the faithful departed in any cemetery. The usual conditions for a Plenary Indulgence apply:
A plenary indulgence can be gained only once a day. In order to obtain it, the faithful must, in addition to being in the State of Grace:
- have the interior disposition of complete detachment from sin, even venial sin;
- have made a Sacramental Confession of their sins;
- receive the Holy Eucharist;
- pray for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff.
1) The Sacrament of Confession 20 days before or after the pious work of mercy or prayerful action;
2) Holy Communion received 20 days before or after the pious work of mercy or prayerful action;
3) Pray for the Holy Father as part of each Plenary Indulgence (Our Father and Hail Mary are suggested)
Suggested prayer for a visit to a cemetery: ‘Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. May all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
